Capital Cinema

August 25, 2017 - December 21, 2017

Do you have footage of your great aunt marching on Parliament Hill or your grandfather feeding geese at Strathcona Park? Were you a student in the 60's who documented your friend’s adventures on campus and at the ByWard market? Do you have rare footage of a since changed neighbourhood, or recordings of ceremonies from days-gone-by? Did you record an amazing family picnic last summer at Britannia Beach? Great! We want to see it!

The Canadian Film Institute is looking for digitized visual recordings of celebrations, events and people living their lives in recognizable sites in the Ottawa area, from old black and white footage, to recent mobile recordings. Help us celebrate Ottawa 2017 and see yourself, your family and friends on screen.

The Canadian Film Institute will be selecting the best of the submissions to be screened as part of the Ottawa: Cinema Capital event, programming that will run this summer into the fall. Every submission will receive our undying gratitude and will be entered into a draw for 2 CFI Ambassador Memberships, which includes free admission to all CFI screenings.  Footage selected for the screenings will receive a complimentary CFI ticket package for 6 screenings.

Submit your digitized footage by JULY 31, 2017 and share your moving image memories with your Ottawa community!

This project is funded by Ottawa 2017 Arts, Culture and Heritage Investment Program.

The Canadian Film Institute is inviting the public to send in their home movies to be shown as part of Ottawa Cinema Capital, a series of presentations showcasing films shot here in Ottawa. The CFI is looking for digitized visual recordings of celebrations, events and people living their lives in recognizable sites in the Ottawa area, from old black and white footage, to recent mobile recordings.
