To make matters worse, her rival, a prickly and arrogant man named Ignacio is elected instead. Ignacio persistently attempts to get Carmen removed from her position within the group, until an ‘unfortunate accident’ occurs, one that will force Carmen to enlist the help of all of the women around her. Hopelessly Devout is a decidedly offbeat, off-kilter comedy, and is a big hit on the film festival circuit, most recently at Miami and San Sebastian.
