The plot follows Pietro, an intelligent but broke molecular research assistant who is desperately looking to find a steady source of income. Upon suddenly finding himself inside of a disco filled with young people, he realizes that “smart drugs” have become popular among the youth, and recruits his friends to help him in operating a drug manufacturing lab. Problems arise, however, when Pietro begins to garner the attention of Murena, a powerful and dangerous local drug dealer. Refreshingly witty, I Can Quit was a massive success in Italy, and was the recipient of numerous international festival awards, including the Golden Puffin Award for Best Film at the Reykjavik International Film Festival.

Voici un film rocambolesque aux grands enjeux, avec un mélange excitant d’action vive et de comédie sombre à s’en tenir les côtes. La trame se passe autour de Pietro, un adjoint en recherche moléculaire intelligent, mais pauvre, qui cherche désespérément une source de revenu stable. Alors qu’il se trouve soudainement dans une discothèque remplie de jeunes gens, il se rend compte que le dopage cognitif est répandu chez les jeunes, et il recrute ses amis pour l’aider à mettre en marche un labo de fabrication de « smart drug ». Les problèmes arrivent, cependant, lorsque Pietro tente d’attirer l’attention de Murena, un trafiquant de drogue local puissant et dangereux.
