And now for something completely different! Mandibles is an absurdist comedy that revolves around the rather simple-minded friends, Jean-Gab and Manu. After stealing a creaky old Mercedes in order to deliver a mysterious briefcase to some unknown recipient, the pair discovers more than they bargained for – from inside the trunk they hear a peculiar buzzing and strange thumping noises. When they open it, they find a gigantic fly trapped inside. Yes, a fly, large and very crafty! Manu and Jean-Gab decide to forgo their current job and instead focus on training this oddly talented fly to execute robberies for them, in the hope of making mountains of cash. In his latest cinematic funhouse, cult director Quentin Dupieux (Rubber, Wrong Cops, Deerskin) serves up an eccentric and hilarious combination of buddy comedy, road movie, and kinetic sci-fi weirdness. Mandibles is a wild and surreal film about friendship, big dreams, and, for these two, even bigger disasters. Vive la différence!
